License plates aren't just a piece of metal bolted to the back of a car, they provide a glimpse into folks' souls. At least they do a little by looking at the stories below, which show the impact of license plate humor and stories.

Vanity plates are another manifestation of North Americans' fascination with individualism and self-expression. Vanities also tell a story, one with few characters but much meaning.
