Carnes

Carnes run the gamut from the fleet and wiley Raptors to the larger and more direct Tyrannosaurs. They think like hunters and work like a pack, with the strongest Pack member leading them. Challenges to be leader of the pack are vicious one-on-on battles to the death. There are two distinct groups of Carnes, the Dahkians and the Rogues. Those that were subdued by the first Emperor, Bur'Tai. And those that weren't. Because they have been seperated for so long, they react in similar ways, but have noticable different cultures.

Dahkians

The ones that had been subdued are known as Dahkian Carnes. They are kept as busy as possible so they don't get any ideas about the Vege cities they live near. They rather resent the Veges but they can't complain about the large ancestral dinosaurs they hunt for food. Or for the amenities they are allowed. Their dress tends to be dark and functional. Such as hardened leathers. They are also sent to try and discourage the Rogue Carnes from camping too close to anywhere where they can prey on Veges. The typical leader for a Carne pack is a Vege that can deal with all possible challengers. When one Vege eventually grows old and loses, a new one must defeat the new Carne leader of the pack.

Rogues

The Rogue Carnes are a savage culture. Without the guiding hand of the Veges, they eat whatever they can catch, be it a giant herbivore or travellers. They are openly hostile to the Empire and do tend to seek travellers more often then anything else to eat. Fights within the ranks are frequent, but generally for dominance and not to the death unless for a leading position within the Pack. They tend to dress in brighter colors, accentuated by dyes to enhance natural patterns, and bones and skulls from their victims.
