This is a rather small alcove mostly taken up with the marble statue of a great and long forgotten Denim Warrior from the past. He looks as much a scholar as he does a warrior. The only other item worth mentioning is that the carved pen wielded by that statues looks very similar to Golden Ink, the Pen of Power wielded by Br'fin, the last of the Denim Warriors.
I've been on the net since late 1990 where I got on it from my explorer post during my senior year of high school. We played games, we learned C, and most importantly, we learned of MUSHes.
We started with an internal MUSH, only 2-3 of us on it at a time and with a copy of Croaker's MUSH manual, we sat down and learned how to code and build. I later learned that the db we were on was a copy of an even older game, Islandia.
This was fun, but dull because we were the only ones upon it. Then we learned that we could reach other games outside of the explorer post. We tried one, but it was slow and too restricted for we were newbies and we wanted to build. Next, we found TinyTIM. And the three of us, Brefin(myself, before I impressed Levith), Hans, and Thexder set up shop, each of us creating small areas not off of the Grand Hotel, but off of the much smaller Sphinx Hotel.
At some later time I attached also my home to the Grand Hotel; it's the first door on the fifteenth floor of the North Wing. And it remains there still, especially since the Sphinx Hotel is no more.
My Castle as it is layed out today on TIM is more or less the same as when I first built it. I've only been tweaking it by either improving the code on various artifacts about it, or by putting in little details that I forgot previously, such as osucc and odrop messages on the exits. You might also notice that it serves as the template for these pages.
When I got to college I discovered TinyFugue and the ability to be on many games at once. So, while still existing on TIM, I explored the others and expanded my horizons. And while it seemed like by all rights I should have been snowballing (recieving an all blank report card because of lack of work) with how much time I was online, I some still managed to graduate with a BS in Computer Science.
Currently, I'm active on several different games and have a number of friends, mainly through and across the net. Some of whom I have even managed to meet in real life at those times when I've gone to a weekend gathering for one game or another, usually TinyTIM though.
